When new, Rover P5B's were used by Royalty and Government Ministers. Today, you only have to drive one a short distance to understand why they were held in such high esteem by the VIP's of the 1960's and 70's. They are a commanding presence when out on the road and a pleasure to drive.
This 1969 example looks superb with it's admiralty blue livery and cream leather upholstery. It would be a pleasure to show it at any of this season's classic car rallies.
The documentation file contains numerous previous MOT certificates dating back to 1986, a number of expired road tax discs and dozens of invoices detailing work carried out on the car since 1988 totalling over £8500.
It was comprehensively restored in the early 1990's with a large album of detailed photographs showing the work as it progressed. The body was fully refurbished and the engine rebuilt and converted to run on unleaded fuel.
We first owned this car in 2014 when we had the paintwork refinished again to bring the exterior back up to the standard of the rest of the car. This was also documented with a series of photographs showing the work.
We immediately sold it to a regular customer of ours who has improved it over his four year ownership by renewing the Webasto sunroof, refinishing the wood picnic tables and fitting a new starter motor.
Unfortunately the gentleman has recently died and so the car is now available again.
The current MOT runs until July 2018 although the car has now become MOT exempt from May this year. The recorded mileage is 7173 but this is not correct.
The car will be licensed for twelve months from the date of sale for the new owner at no cost as the car qualifies for the Historic Taxation class.
Prospective buyers are welcome to come and view the car in our Leeds showroom.
