Healey SR2 Le Mans (1968) For Sale

One of just two Healey Sports Racer chassis built; SR2 was the spare tub constructed for Healey’s 1968 and 1969 assault on Le Mans. Whilst not put into use at either race it was retained by the factory until 1970. The chassis that raced at Le Mans SR1 (registration HNX 465D) was modified in 1970 from a coupe into a spyder to comply with ASO prototype rules which stipulated that a car of the same specification could not run in the prototype class for more than 2 years running. The doors, roof, and rear panelwork from the original coupe body were set aside.

The first owner purchased SR2 from the factory along with the spare parts and kept it from 1970 until 1995 although never restored the car to running condition. Then sold to Australia it was finally put on the road and fitted with an Oldsmobile V8 engine. Post restoration the car was driven at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 1998. Now residing in Belgium SR2 has subsequently been fitted with the correct type 2 litre Climax FWMV V8 engine as used in SR1 at Le Mans in 1968 and 1969. SR2 is road registered in the UK under the cars' original Healey registration number RUE 716G and it also has a Belgium title for the road.

Ready to race with current HTP papers. Having competed at Le Mans Classic in 2016 and 2018 it would be an ideal entrant to the 2020 edition. SR2 is also eligible for FIA Masters Historic Sports Cars.
