     UPDATE 22 3 2020
call the details below

Due to the Coronavirus I'm taking this advert down.

No one is moving about or prepared to come and view so lets see how long it takes to clear up

If we're still alive then it might be for sale again.
Keep Safe -- Be Friendly towards others and we might just survive it!

Volvo 940 1997/ 1998 (I cant remember exactly without diging the paperwork out) Volvo 940 LPT 2. 3 engine in very good order. Full 9 months MOT left as from 1/ 3/ 2020
Mileage recorded on MOT Cert 119, 342

Thats an average of 5, 200 miles a year

The engine code is B230FK (135 BHP)which is the non-interference engine, probably one of the most reliable engines in the volvo range.
The beauty of this engine is should the cam belt ever break the engine will just simply stop, there will be no damage to the pistons and it wont bend the valves.
Just get a new cam belt fitted and off you go. ( thats got to be worth a grand compared to other engines )

If you want to up the BHP to the same as the FT Engine which runs the High Pressure Turbo(165BHP)then you can do that very simply by fitting a £15 Lockable (MBC) Manual Boost Controller that will take it up to the same as the HPT Engine.
So don't let anyone tell you that the HPT engine is special. It's NOT
The FK or Low Pressure Turbo Engine is tust running with less strain on the engine.

Personally I think they are quick enough as they are.

Power comes from a low-pressure turbo version of Volvo’s 2. 3-litre B230 engine, which is almost as revered by Volvo fanciers as the big estates are themselves.
Gearbox is the bullet proof M90

One or two scratches on the car but nothing that you would notice on a rainy day as you walked past it in a hurry.

Clutch Done

Cam belt Done

New Radiator

New Battery

Fresh Antifreeze

New Power Steering pump

New Power Steering rack

Oil and Filter Changed

This one has the Egg Crate Grill that every one seems to crave after.
It must be close to being one on the last off the production line as the production stopped on the 5th February 1998.

This was what they called the 'Celebration' Model, the run-out model produced to mark the last few months of production for the rear-wheel-drive big Volvos having the egg crate grill and the clear front and rear indicator lenses, wooden trim on the doors and the dash as well as some other little extras, so a little bit special and getting rarer by the day.
The running gear on this car should take it well into the future with very little work required, lets face it it's had all the major items like clutch, radiator, power steering rack and steering pump, cam belt and tensioner, all the expensive stuff has been done, you could drive this to the moon and back.

Mot'd today 22/ 11/ 2019 so has a full 13 Months MOT till 21/ 12/ 2020

No Tow Bar untill today 18/ 1/ 20 when I decided to fit one so that I could use it to move my small trailer around instead of having to move 2 other vehicles and then get my Land rover in to couple it up. I actually bought a new tow bar but couldn't get it to fit as the holes wouldn't line up with the holes in the chasis, two of them were well out of line so I made one myself, probably better than the bought one.

Only selling as I have two other vehicles, my old Series Land Rover which is tax free and mot exempt so two fingers up to the government. lol! And my Discovery 300 Tdi which gets used most days

Although this is up for sale it is not a must sell, it's 21 years old, drives like a 5 year old and goes like you know what off a shovel when you want it to and still returns 30 mpg on a run.
These are good quality old cars and they don't make them like this any more and with the advantage of having very few sensors on them to switch you into limp mode or even switch you off, they are much more reliable than the modern crap that comes off the production line today.
These cars were over engineered thats why they last so long

Check - details above and see if VOLVO 940 R948NFX has outstanding recalls
The answer will come back NO!

If you haven't already guessed I'm not a lover of modern cars that have sensors watching sensors, I'd much rather drive just about anything thats pre 2001.

Why would you want to buy a new car nowadays when the government is trying to make everyone go green and buy electric, only thing they forgot was there's not enough charging points and the cars only do about 300 miles on a charge, Christ you'd get more than that out of a tank full of petrol on this car. Then there is the cost of replacing the batteries which I am told only lasts about 4 years, NO not for me I'm afraid. I'm old school, keep it simple, Drive an old Volvo.
If you’ve never owned one before… they’re renowned the world over for their high build quality, safety and reliability. This car is incredibly comfy, great in winter having a very good heater, which by-passes the thermostat so the interior heats up very quickly and an it's absolute joy to drive and will last for many more years.

Service Book Fully Stamped and continued on a seperate piece of paper by myself.
I have checked the paperwork out with the Main Dealership when I first bought the car as I couldn't believe that it had a Full Service History all stamped up from day one and they confirmed to me that it's 100% genuine.
The Car was originally bought from Kings of Salisbury then it moved to West Yorkshire so it has been an English Car all its life and that was the reason I bought it.
I never Buy Cars north of the border as they use too much salt on the roads during the wintwr months up here in Scotland and it just rots underneath of the cars, so nothing to worry about with this one, it's clean as a whistle and it doesn't get used on the salty roads

Lots of service receipts available over the years if thats what floats your boat, I'd much rather look at the condition it is in today and then think. ( Yes It's in good enough condition )

In this condition and with a full service history there should only be 2 questions,
1./ when can I collect it
2./ what's the address.

I have had lots of 740's and 940's over the years, some high mileage like 196, 000 and even one 940 which had over 240, 000 miles on the clock so dont let high mileage put you off these cars.
This one is just coming up to 120, 000 which is nothing for these engines.
This car has as you would expect for it's age a few minor marks on the bodywork, one on the rear passanger side corner where someone has Keyed the Car for what ever reason.
It's not gone through to the metal so is not rusting, it just shows up as a thin white line, I will get round to spraying that panel one day but at the moment it's not top of my to do list.

So there you go, A Rare Model With Superb Specification, Not the Cheapest 940 on the market and not the dearest either.

Yes you'll buy one cheaper but probably not one with a full Service History and it might need a Clutch, a Radiator, a new power steering rack , a new Exhaust and goodness knows what else, so factor these in and then you'll understand why it's the price it is.

If you are looking for what they call a minter then be prepared to pay up to £6995. Hey!! even I wouldn't pay that!

As I said this is not a must sell, it's a really handy old motor to have as a spare vehicle
In fact I used the Volvo this week when I took my Discovery off the road to fix the head gasket, I probably did about 250 miles in all and it never missed a beat.

Anyway it's here if anyone wants it, it's North of the Line in Ayrshire, Scotland, come have a look , nothing to hide.

TO Summarize:

9 months MOT, no advisories .

Has official Volvo service stamp every single year prior to my ownership and has the service book to back this up.

A modern classic in good condition that will appreciate in value

Just under 120, 000 genuine miles - in Volvo terms this is just run in.

Cambelt changed at 117800, thats 3000 miles ago.

Incredibly rare to find a Volvo of this age with such reasonably low milage that is in original unmolested condition.

Brand new battery so ready for winter and ready to go.

If you have read all the advert then you should understand that This is NOT a Must Sell.

The story of the Volvo P1800 began in 1957, Volvo wanted a sports car to compete in the United States and European markets. Volvo turned to Jensen Motors, whose production lines were under-utilised, and they agreed a contract for 10,000 cars. The Linwood body plant, manufacturer of Pressed Steel, was in turn sub-contracted ...
