The Lotus Type 49 impressed straight away on its debut in the Dutch GP, third race of the 1967 Formula 1 season, recording the fastest lap on the way to victory from pole. Its innovative structure featured the legendary Ford Cosworth DFV .
That season, the Type 49 was piloted by two world-class drivers at the top of their game, Jim Clark and Graham Hill, and they ensured that the Type 49 was pole-sitter in every race it entered in the Championship.
