It is time to give up my custodial duties for this 52 year old classic car as we are soon to be downsizing.The car is garaged all year and covered with a tailor-made cover for the MGB GT and only ever take out on sunny days.
The car is in fantastic condition for its age having been restored some twenty years ago but it is not in 100% mint condition. There are some smaller tasks still to be done as I have had the larger issues sorted out first. Typically, the rev counter is not connected and the Kenlowe fan operates via a manual switch and not the thermostat.
Over the last 4 years, I have had the following works carried out by an MG specialist garage in Aylesbury.
New petrol tank and sender. Treated with anti-stone chip pre-installation
Upgraded starter motor, pre-engaged
Replacement master brake cylinder and pins
4 pot front disc brake calipers
Rear brake overhaul
Full MOT and inspection annually
There is a box file full of history, MOT’s and receipts including a heritage certificate. From the box of history, it would appear that the car was totally restored approximately 25 years ago and included new and replaced:
Front and rear wings
Inner and outer sills
Front and rear bumpers
Leather interior, headlining and carpets
Engine and gearbox
New clutch assembly
Tyres all round
12v single battery
This car is as genuine as you can possibly find and has many memories, including taking my daughter to her wedding in it. It looked stunning with the white ribbons on it.
