Changes included, synchromesh on all 4 gears, an optional Borg-Warner automatic gearbox, a new rear axle, an alternator, and a change to a negative earth system. To accommodate the new gearboxes there were significant changes to the sheet metal in the floor pan. Rostyle wheels were introduced in 1969 and reclining seats were standardized in 1970. 1971 also saw a new front grille, recessed, in black aluminium. The more traditional-looking polished grille returned in 1972 with a black "honeycomb" insert. 1970 saw split rear bumpers with the number-plate in between, 1971 returned to the earlier five-piece style.
The MGB is one of the world’s iconic sports cars, and the 1970 Mk2 model with the all-synchromesh gears is one of the most desirable. The car is stunning in Iris Blue, a great period colour with a Black interior. The whole car has recently been painted to a very high standard. It seems that the owner has spent a small fortune on this car, the whole underside of the car has been weather proofed, there are, new rear brakes, new battery, new windscreen weather strip and window rubbers, new side chrome badges, new bumpers front and rear with over-riders, new grille, new reversing lights, new headlamps and new side repeaters, new kick plates, new door rubbers and new door trims and handles. The recorded mileage is 47,000 and the car has just had a Service. The car has Rostyle wheels with chrome trims, and they have been fitted with new tyres.
This car is in excellent condition, having had a lot of money spent on it. Historic tax class so no road tax to pay, ready to be used and loved by its next owner.
There is a drop box with more photos.CALL 023 8066 8413/8409 Auction: 1:00pm, 20 September 2019 at Sandown Park Racecourse
