1986 PORSCHE 911 CARRERA 3.2 // IRIS BLUE WITH BLUE LEATHER SOLD

FOR SALE; Iris Blue With Blue Leather // LHD

EQUIPMENT

LHD, 5-Speed Manual, Perforated Leather Sports Seats, Electric Windows, Climate Control, Fuchs Alloy Wheels, CD/ Radio with Bluetooth, Cruise Control, Drilled Discs, Electric Sunroof, Electric Adjustable Seats, Twin Exhaust

EXTERIOR

Finished in a stand out shade of Iris Blue Metallic, the cars original factory colour, the Carrera wears its extremely age well. As expected for a nearly 35 year old car there are some imperfections but it still retains a beautiful metallic shine, especially when its iconic curves catch the light.

The tonal European spec bumpers give the car a slightly more modern, aggressive presence than the earlier 911’s especially when offset against its deep black and chrome trim. Its also refreshing to see this particular Carrera has retained its elegant flowing form at the rear end, avoiding the Turbo ‘Whale Tail’ Spoiler which were a notorious aftermarket addition to these particular cars.

INTERIOR

The Carrera’s great shade of Iris Blue is further complimented by its deep navy upholstery. The Perforated leather sports seats remain in remarkably good condition, the shape is supportive holding you comfortably in place whilst the leather is still incredibly soft to touch.

The driving position is direct, the familiar cluster of dials sit neatly in the dash at a perfect eye line just beyond the leather, sports steering wheel. The switches and controls still have that distinctly analogue feel, something that sets this Era of 911 apart from its more modern relatives.

There are a few touches of the 21st century to aid modern driving, with factory spec electric adjustable seats, climate control and tastefully upgraded sound system at significant cost.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

By the time the 3. 2-litre came into production in Porsche had over 20 years experience building flat-sixes and most of the issues were sorted. This engine was subject to an overhaul in 2009 which included a substantial list of repairs and replaced parts running into the thousands.

Having covered around 20, 000 miles since this work the car the engine is smooth; delivering consistent, linear power right through the rev range. Combining the lightweight design and the 207 BHP deep rumble of the Carrera’s flat 6 produces a truly visceral driving experience. These early air-cooled cars really do have a unique sense of personality and character that came to define the very essence of Porsche.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES

The traditional 16? Fuchs wheels complete the period feel of the Carrera. After being expertly refurbished the black paint and polished rim are in excellent order, they really set off the Iris Blue Metallic coachwork above.

Wheels are wrapped in premium Michelin Pilot Sport rubber with plenty of depth to provide plenty of confidence when pushing the car through even the trickiest of B-roads, whilst drilled disc brakes with no lipping, ensure plenty of stopping power.

HISTORY FILE

This vehicle comes with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity which provides the original spec list and manufacture date of the car. Produced in late 1985 this US spec was originally registered in 1986 where it spent most of its life in dry American states.

During the cars time overseas it was maintained to a very high standard, with a file of invoices showing extensive work to keep the car on the road. The history file contains a vehicle history check by Carfax and Autocheck verifying it as a clean, accident free example tracking its ownership and history. There are bills totalling in excess of $15, 000 which include a lot of major works the car was subject to in 2009, at 100, 000 miles. The engine was treated to thorough overhaul as well as new rotors, front struts and rear shocks being fitted to the car just to list a few of the works.

Having covered around 20, 000 miles since its light restoration, the car was then imported to the UK in 2018 and comes with a V5 and correct import paperwork. Once in the country the new owner then had the car further serviced and worked on by a Porsche specialist at a cost of over £4, 000.

Now in our showroom the Carrera sits as a lovely, honest example of one of history’s most iconic sports cars.
