I bought the car about 8 years ago as a project and all of the work listed has been carried out as and when time and money has allowed. This model of Rover is on the 8ft 9in wheel base which is shorter than the standard saloon. The sports saloon model of Rover seems to be a bit scarce as I have not seen another in the flesh.
It still retains its original Exeter registration number and there are a couple of old type log books along with an original drivers handbook. The mileage is approximate as the speedo packed up and a genuine original type was sourced to replace it.A large file of bills/invoices for work and parts comes with it.
Original brown leather upholstery, front seats have folding forward backrests. Original interior roof lining & door trim panels, not perfect but in very good useable condition.
The car has a crash (non-synchro) gearbox and is fitted with a working freewheel as standard.
Body structure is Alloy panels over wood frame with steel wings.
Work carried out to date:
Radiator rebuilt & re-cored with period style core.
New fuel tank.
Head lamp reflectors re-silvered.
Carb overhauled & fitted with correct needle & jet.
Steering box rebuilt.
Engine rebuilt as follows in 2019:
Unleaded cylinder head, new valve guides, springs & timing chain.
Bores honed & new piston rings fitted,
New gudgeon pins & bushes,
Big ends & main bearings re-white metalled, & Crankshaft ground,
Engine has been balanced and is not yet fully run in.
