1991 Mercedes 190E, owned since 2012, only 97000 miles For Sale
Selling my 190E which I have has for nearly 7 years - the longest I've ever owned a car for. It hasn't had much use in the past couple of years as I have a practical estate now. It is a lovely car and I'm only really selling it to make room for a new toy.
The car is solid and has a fresh MOT, any inspection welcome. It is in great condition for year but remember it is a 28 year old car so its never going to be perfect. I've photographed the bad bits that come to mind, the drivers seat is starting to wear slightly and drivers mirror has black paint come off on edge. The adjustment lever inside has also broken on this mirror, I was going to replace the whole unit but never got around to it.
Nice spec with Auto gearbox, electric sunroof, much admired colour combination and original wheels.*
It is not quite a standard example, look away now if that bothers you. I have made some modifications to make the car easier and more fun to live with.
Firstly the engine is upgraded to 2.3 specification. It is in no way a fast car now, however the original 1.8 could barely keep up with traffic and I found it too slow to live with. I would never have kept the car so long if I hadn't done this, it transformed the way it drives.
I have also had sports springs fitted, the original parts are very soft and high riding, this is a very common upgrade and is still softer than most modern cars and drives lovely.
The radio is changed to a DAB unit and the speakers upgraded in original places.
I have also fitting a remote for the central locking, this was never available as even an option in 1991 but is hard to live without.
All paintwork I believe to be original and is in great condition for year, only very minor dings and scratches. Underneath has no evidence of ever being welded, nor does it need any. These 190Es last great if they are looked after and don't really have any weak points.
It has every MOT to prove the mileage, very low for a 28 year old car, and only 4 previous owners in that time. I have looked after maintenance myself in my ownership. It is a very easy car to DIY. I have done a service every year and replaced whatever it has needed, new radiator and coolant flush last year for example.

*Footnote on original spec.
Back when this was made Mercedes didn't have a standard range, you bought a car and everything else was (a very expensive) option. If you are looking at 190Es you will notice that every single one has a different specification. Off the top of my head, the options on this one are: Automatic Gearbox, Metallic Paint, Alloy Wheels, Radio, Cassette Storage Console, Front Arm Rest, Leather Steering wheel, Front Electric Windows, Electric Sunroof, Outside Temp Gauge, Rear Head Rests.
