This is the not the typical, average Ford Mustang 289 V8 Coupe we see on the UK market. This is a very correct, original car with provenance, exceptional history dating back to 1966 and a genuine 66,000 miles from new. The Ford was supplied new by Fred Lautze Inc on Airport Blvd, San Francisco, California on the 21st April 1966 to Fulvio Garzoli, a WWII veteran of the US Navy residing in San Francisco. The Mustang then spent 33 years in the City (its whole time in the USA), changing hands just small number of times. The original Ford Mustang service book is with the car confirming early maintenance at 2352, 4915, 7984, 12319, 17392 and 21540 miles in 1970. The Mustang was later sold and owned for many years by a Mrs Ferrari in Foster City, South San Francisco and a file of paperwork for maintenance is with the car. In 1999 the Mustang sold again, this time to a Motoring Journalist in the Inner Richmond district of San Francisco. In 2002, its owner moved to London, shipping his beloved original Mustang with him where it was then registered OGC 570D. In 2004, the Ford had to be sold and was purchased by the most recent owner who since moved from the London area to rural North Yorkshire. This car was the first purchase of a very impressive large classic car collection and during the 15 years of ownership, never once failed or let its owner down, proving a strong, robust and reliable original car.
OGC 570D presents very well with a superb, strong straight bodyshell. There are no signs of any corrosion issues and being a true California car, its clear to see the bodywork has never required major work. The car has required no paintwork whilst in the UK and has a very original look and feel to it. It still retains a good shine, there are odd marks and blemishes associated with age, but ultimately it looks like a really honest, strong original car that has never required restoration. The chrome work is bright, wheels are in good condition, the glass is very good and the underside of the vehicle is structurally outstanding as we would expect having had the climate of California for the majority of its life. The upholstery appears correct and appears to be totally original. The seats, door cards, headlining, dashboard and carpets are all in very good order, as is the correct boot floor mat and spare wheel cover. The car is quite clearly very genuine and its condition both inside and out would suggest its never had a hard life and supports the paperwork in being a very low mileage example.
We road tested and checked over this Ford Mustang on the North Yorkshire Moors and considering its had very little recent use, it performed well. Being part of a large collection often means lack of use and having owned the car for fifteen years, the owner has decided to part with the car and concentrate on UK marques. On a 25 minute road test up steep hills, down narrow lanes and the occasional long straight near Blakey Ridge in the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park the Mustang was impressive. The V8 engine performed faultlessly, the smooth automatic gearbox shifts and changes up and down the gearbox nicely. Once a buyer is secured, we will then MOT test the Ford and carry out a service will include replacement fluids and a brake strip and clean before going to its next owner. OGC 570D is a very affordable entry into the V8 muscle car world but with much more than the average Mustang. Finding such an honest, original and untouched example could prove very difficult, but even more rare is finding a car with history back to new with its original service book, a genuine low mileage of 66,000 and the fact this is a genuine rust free California car that has spent most of its life in one US City. This is a fabulous opportunity, a great car to use, enjoy and continue to preserve.

The Ford Mustang was introduced in 1964. Based on the very basic Ford Falcon mechanicals the car was never intended to be in production up to today. It was an overnight sensation. Ford had literally.....
