This superbly presented Land Rover Series IIA Station Wagon was manufactured in 1966 and was registered new with the Royal Air Force. JAL 356K spent its early life in service, used as a work horse on a UK air base for five years. In 1971 the Land Rover was released by the Royal Air Force and the vehicle was then road registered and allocated with a 1971 registration mark. Over the next forty years the Land Rover had just three owners and having being in fairly regular use, in largely original condition, the vehicle was in need of restoration work.
Several years ago the major programme of restoration began with the vehicle being totally stripped down and put in position for a full chassis up restoration. The chassis was stripped, repaired and painted, the body restored as necessary and the Land Rover was professionally re-painted. With the running gear removed from the vehicle, the engine was stripped down and fully rebuilt and all other mechanical components were overhauled as necessary. The Land Rover was treated to a brand new interior including roof lining and the rebuild finished off with a keen eye for detail with areas such as the engine bay and boot really sharply presented and nicely detailed. The restoration was completed to a very high standard and as a result this Station Wagon would not be out of place on the show scene.
JAL 356K has arrived with us in excellent condition clearly having only covered low mileage since completion of the restoration. Some years on and the 'Landy' still retains a deep, high quality paint finish with lovely straight panels, wheels and tyres are in excellent order and the underside is beautifully presented. The engine bay is exceptional, the interior pristine and on the road this Land Rover does not dissapoint. The engine is superb and strong, it starts promptly on the button, runs perfectly smooth and feels just right. The gear changes are a delight, the overdrive works and brakes, suspension and steering are all efficient, tight and correct having being overhauled in recent years. With a working heater, seat belts, 12 seats, reliability and a charming, urban presence, this is a 'Landy' for the whole family to enjoy whether for regular daily use or touring holidays, this is great fun and an appreciating asset. JAL 356K will be sold with a full 12 months MOT, full service, function check and warranty. Part exchanges are also welcome as we look to constantly replenish stock.
1976, mot and tax exempt. Recently had a bit of tic, new seats, some paintwork, brake, fuel pump etc. Runs and drives well, and everything works ... smokes a bit on start up but ok when warm. Chassis.....
