We last sold this superb MGB GT in April 2018 but due to unforeseen circumstances, the owner has made the difficult decision to sell the car. Since taking delivery, the MGB covered 500 faultless miles and in the region of £3000 has been spent on improvements, something the owner has thoroughly enjoyed doing having an engineering background. The MG has been treated to new anti roll bar drop link arms, rebuilt top and bottom trunnions, poly bush kit, new leaf springs and shackle bushes, new coil springs, new hub oil seals, new brake discs, brake drums, brake shoes, new diff cover gasket, timing cover gasket, sump gasket and rocker cover gasket. Since last year, the interior has also been treated to extensive trimming work. The seats boast brand new leather, door cards are new and many chrome interior items, trims and rubbers have been changed. As result of this recent the work, this excellent MGB comes back to us superbly fettled having had £3,000 of expenditure taking the last owners investment in the car to £18,000.
VRR 766G is a car we know very well having sold it to the last three owners. Previous to selling the MG in 2018, we sold it to the two owners in Harrogate. We last sold the car in 2015 to a lawyer and prominent board member of the Alvis Owners Club who has covered 3000 miles in the car. The MG also attended a classic car event hosted by ourselves in Scotland (September 2017) and has proven to be an exceptional, reliable example. Over the 500 plus mile trip the car performed faultlessly. Prior to this, we sold the MG to another regular customer in Harrogate in 2012 having been in York for 22 years.
This 1969 registered MGB GT is an excellent, strong, solid and honest car and we believe the mileage of 86,500 is likely to be genuine. The MG is an outstanding car to drive and has covered over 10,500 miles since 2009. The car has been in regular use and has proven to be perfectly reliable. The engine feels and sounds strong, oil pressure is very good and the performance is impressive. The four speed gearbox changes up and down smoothly and the overdrive works. Other more recent mechanical work includes new propshaft universal joints, new stub axle assemblies, regular servicing and greasing.
VRR 766G presents superbly having been treated to a full re-paint at our Malton Coachworks bodyshop in 2012. The body was excellent with aged paintwork and today the car looks terrific with gleaming paintwork, lovely straight panels and no rust issues. The MG was also treated to new front and rear bumpers, over-riders and rear window surround in 2012. Painted wire wheels are in excellent order and the engine bay is nicely detailed with bright paintwork and clean ancillaries and engine unit. The interior is glorious having been recently re-trimmed.
The MG is ideal for regular use, local shows or as recently proven, long distance touring. 1960's MGB GT's are proving incredibly desirable and finding very correct cars like this, that drive, perform and look like VRR 766G are fast becoming increasingly hard to find.
