A collector’s dream!

The 1933 Packard Model 1004 Super Eight Touring featured here is finished in the stunning color combination of Packard Brown over a brown leather interior and beige convertible top. This stunning example was delivered new in May of 1933 to Park Avenue Packard in New York and was previously owned by well-known Packard enthusiast and collector Don McCallum before being sold to another collector in 2005. It was previously the subject of a no expense spared restoration that presents well and displays very little patina. The Classic Car Club of America recognizes this Model 1004 as a Full Classic and it is a CCCA Senior Award winner (a testament to the Packard’s thorough restoration). With limited production, ownership provenance and CCCA award winning status, this 1933 Packard Super Eight is one of the best examples that can be found on the market today. We are proud to offer this stunning 1933 Packard Model 1004 Super Eight Touring to the most particular investor or collector who appreciates CCCA award winning restorations and the legacy of the Packard marque. HISTORY OF THE 1933 PACKARD 1004 SUPER EIGHT
For Packard’s 10th series of Automobiles, the company introduced several innovations with the 8 cylinder models. The Packard Standard Eight was now just the Packard Eight and the Deluxe Eight models begun being referred to as the Super Eight. The Super Eight in particular saw several improvements including a strengthened chassis with a new manifold design and a new Stromberg carburetor that raised power output to 145 horsepower. Vacuum assisted brakes were featured and gave the driver the option to adjust the level of braking to assist their needs. The wheelbase of the Deluxe models was dropped in favor of a 135” wheelbase chassis. Individuals seeking a more stately appearance opted for the 142” wheelbase which was 5 inches shorter than the 1932 “Deluxe” models. With 13 different factory body styles available, individual bodied production numbers were limited. Of the 1, 327 Super Eight models built for 1933, only 788 were assembled on the 142” chassis. Body no. 650 was the Super Eight Touring, a stylish and functional Touring car with rear fold away jump seats that allowed seating for either 5 or 7 passengers. With a restyled exterior and a new windshield treatment, the Touring was especially stunning. It is no wonder why examples are highly coveted among collectors today.
