1991 1992 LANCIA DELTA INTEGRALE 16V SOLD

Designed by the legendary Giorgetto Giugiaro, the Delta was a mass produced family hatchback built between 1979 and 1994 which gained cult status thanks to the need to homologate the model for rallying, which in turn lead to complete domination of the World Rally Championship including a record six consecutive constructors championships between 1987 and 1992.

The first performance Delta was the HF (High Fidelity) an acronym that had been used on ‘hot’ Lancias since 1966. Launched in July 1983 it feature a 1. 6 litre turbocharged engine producing 130bhp, a 5-Speed ZF gearbox and retuned dampers, springs and steering. Facelifted in October 1985 the HF became the HF Turbo and featured cosmetic changes but remained technically unchanged. By April 1986 the HF Turbo was replaced by the HF 4WD, engine capacity went up to 2. 0 litres with 165bhp and featuring permanent 4WD. A year later the HF Integrale was launched, with major engine upgrades and a larger turbocharger, the new 8v Integrale pushed power to a heady 180bhp. In 1989 a 16v version of the Integrale was revealed, the upgrade to 16v being a necessity for Lancia’s rally campaigns. Success was swift, with the 16v winning its first event, the 1989 San Remo Rally. Power was pushed further to 200bhp, a staggering figure for a 4-cylinder hatchback in the late 1980’s.

The car offered today is a stunning example of the Integrale 16v and was delivered new to France in 1992. The car comes with a comprehensive history file with a large number of invoices going right back to new and show that this has been a very well looked after example that has stayed in France all of its life. Also with the car is the book pack with handbooks including the service book detailing early service stamps during the first few years of the cars life. In the last 4 years the car has benefitted from three big services, one in 2017 costing €1, 000 EUR and another nearly €3, 000 EUR in 2014. Other work includes a new alternator, fuel pump, radiator, dump valve and 4 new Bridgestone tyres in 2014. The car was driven to us from the continent, demonstrating it’s mechanical integrity. A rare example of probably the most iconic hot hatch of the 80’s and 90’s, this fabulous car offers a chance to acquire a lovely, unmolested example of the Delta Integrale in excellent condition and with comprehensive history from new.
