Triumph 2.5 PI V8. For Sale (1972) edit C79122 | | | Immaculate 1972 Triumph 2.5 PI fitted Rover V8 engine & gearbox. Effectively a 1 owner car from 1972 until 2006. In 1999 the then owner commisioned a restoration of the car to put it back to, 'as new'. This included a total rebuild of the car including, suspension, brakes, bare metal respray with new metal & panels where needed. The car was then rebuilt using all new or refurbished parts. The one change the owner wanted was the car to be fitted with a Rover V8 engine. An SD1 engine & box was sourced that had recently been rebuilt & modified with an uprated cam & Holley 4 barrell carb. This was installed with the 5 speed box & the brakes & suspension were uprated to suit, using Capri 2.8i front discs & Princess 4 pot calipers at the front & Stag rear brakes at the back. A Stag/Rover exhaust set up was used along with Stag rear crossmember to allow for the twin exhaust system. The car was painted in the original Triumph Sapphire.
Front suspension uses Stag front springs & rear has 2500 estate springs.
Apart from a set of 6x15" Supalite wheels shod with 195/65 x 15 tyres & the twin pipes at the rear the car looks totally standard from the outside. The interior is standard apart from a matching Stag MK1 tacho.
The build cost of this car was in excess of £25,000, it has covered less than 5,000 miles since its completion in 2000.
The original owner sold the car on 2006, due to lack of use, to a Triumph enthusiast in Morecambe & he sold it on to me in 2007 due to ill health.
