Volkswagen Beetle 1500 w. recon 1300 engine For Sale (1970) edit C122063 | | | 1970 VW Beetle 1500 with reconditioned 1300 engine. The body of this classic is in near perfect condition. Tax is only 48€ per annum and is paid up until August 2010.
The engine lid, 4xwings, 2xdoors, bonnet and floor pans were replaced two years ago and the car was completely striped down to metal, undercoated, primed and resprayed in the original colour, a fantastic midnight blue, so the body is completely rust free.
I bought this car in Cardiff in August this year and have had very little trouble with it. Genuine reason for selling. I am a college student and I feel that I do not have the time this car deserves to bring it up to a pristine condition. Other work done includes full chrome fittings, full new headlight units, scat quick shifter, all new carpets, full 4 speaker sound system with Kenwood sound system under dash, wooden racing steering wheel, front and back chrome bumpers, new petrol filler pipe seals, new Empi air filter, ignition rotor head, custom chrome side scirts, modified accelerator pedal, 4x Empi8 replica alloy wheels resprayed white and 4 practically new tyres.
Because I am under 25 I had to get standard insurance which meant, unlike other beetles on sale here, I had to get an engineers report. The only fault was a broken brake light switch which I have had replaced. I also had this car fully serviced including an oil change and a replaced oil filter and oil pressure switch. I am replacing the two front shock absorbers this week.
Areas that could do with some work: Original vinyl driver seat has a few rips and is worn but I have had no problems using it in this condition. The interior is in very good condition but there are a few areas where the linings could be tucked back in. There are a few scrapes on the dash but nothing serious. The chassis is still all original so there is some rust there. There is a key scratch on the bonnet. Everything else is in very good working condition but I can give you a few tips on future work that could be done.
This car has never broken down on me since I got it and starts first time every time. This is a very reluctant sale but unfortunately I have to focus on my studies at the moment.
I have tried to be as honest as I can with the description but if you have any further questions please don't hesitate to ask. This car is really a beauty and the body quality has to be seen to be appreciated. I have most of the receipts and service history since the car was originally restored.
