DKW Auto Union F 91 Convertible For Sale (1954) edit C120758 | | | Delightful little convertible in great shape.
Extreme rare german D.K.W. convertible, some 200-250 cars were handbuilt at Karmann factory in the early 50's. 3-cylinder engine with 50 HP; 4-speed transmission column shift and freewheel system. This is a very early Type F 91 model with the 'suicidedoors' and first designed dashboard (bakelite) with the centre speaker behind aluminium strips and the very old but beautiful TELEFUNKEN radio. This car was built in october 1953 but sold to first owner in may 1954. It has also the so called 'knickscheibe' or V-shaped frontwindow. A long time Portugese car and pampered by a enthousiast in Lissabon. All it's life it had good maintenance and today it's still in wonderful original rustfree condition and the total amount of driven kilometers in 55 years are 98.000 km. This car has the ̣riginal SEMAPHORES(trafficators) and ofcourse they are in working order. All around glass with the original SEKURIT etching. New paint, reconditioned and slightly tuned and completly reconditioned engine, 4-speed gearbox, new clutch, new brakes (drums and lines), new 6 V-battery and new wheelbearings, complete anti-rost treated (Tuff Cote Dinol). Car has been extensively gone through so every part is new or reconditioned. Expensive handstitched black canvas roof with a new black canvas persenning or tonneau-cover. High quality all connolly leather interior. Certificate of Authenticity and Portugese and Dutch licence are with car. Body and paint are excellent and leather interior is very clean and shiny. All panel gaps are good and everything works solid, like doors and both lids. Fitted with four new -hard to find- NOS Fulda 'Diadem' 5.60 x 15 tyres and because they are narrow in size, they look the part: so 50's. This particular convertible just don't come up for sale ever. 10 examples have survived worldwide. Just a lovely car and a chance to own a truly superb piece of AUTO UNION history. Is and will always be one of the most collectable DKW's ever.
Light and quick car (80 MPH) with frontwheel drive and very good roadholding: corners like a modern vehicle.
It is well worth a viewing.
