1982 land rover series mk3 diesel, safari 5dr, sun deflecting twin skinned roof 1982, £795, i am waiting for my new logbook, 10 days they say? like any car that has been standing unused for 13 years, it needs some work. "it's never been welded, nor had any work done, unlike most" it would need some work for an mot. had this car been running, with an mot, it would look perfectly presentable on the road, it certainly would not fail on looks. if it were running, i could get this through an mot in a week, this includes any chassis welding, and "brakes even if they are perished" clutch will free off when running hot, they always do !
land rover safari diesel 1982, station wagen. Lwb, barn find. Unused for quite a while back in 1996, blue with white roof, proper roof rack and rear ladder. Seats 6 in the front, benchseat take another 4/6 easily in the back. It's pretty good underneath, some welding required obviously. The body is sound panels all good, not dented, 2 bolt on door tops rusty, a few bits need doing. Good rear door, and 4 side doors, aliminium body good. It last ran in 1996, a great project for a safari enthusiast. I got the engine turning and started with instant start, the clutch is stuck solid, no brakes, the upholstery and trim need refurb, won't need a fortune spent. I am told by the elderly gentleman owner, it did run well when he parked it up. i am led to believe the mileage 79k? is genuine. anyone interested can look round, take as long as you want, no pressure from me, as i know it will sell sooner or later. parts are in abundance, there are 20 landy 110 clubs alone in the uk. Everthing from a window grove to a window hinge can be bought new. Great winter project, my gut feeling is the engine will run. i would replace it anyway, with a bmw 3, or vauxhall omega diesel, a much better engine, they go staight on to this gearbox.
i have uploaded 3 interior pictures, the floors are perfect, the mice have chewed at the seats, back benches missing, easy to get. the only rust, and dry rust is on the alloy bracings, some welding to outriggers. the alloy body is good, no dents. all unbolts from chassis, if you are doing a full restoration. i have no problem with anyone looking round on their own, if you are "genuinly" looking for a project, this engine will run, these mk3s are worth a few bob done, and this one will not be hard to do. i turned down £300 for the safari rack and deflector roof, so they obviously break to more than i am asking, thanks.
