Mk1 Ford Cortina Super 1500 For Sale (1965) edit C115935 | | | For sale is my 19656 Ford Cortina Super 1498cc. Long MOT and Tax (May 2010)
A very easy project for someone, not much left to do and the parts are pretty much all there to finish.
She is in amazing condition for age. The body has no rust, the mot guys were amazed. She has had a little bit of very minor welding done in the past and the whole body was stripped and restored. Unfortunately due to cash flow i could not afford a decent paint job so she had to have a home diy one as to fully seal the body so she didnt rust. I bought this car as a project, It was scorn and needed some work. Sadly I now need a van for work so she is going to have to go. I believe the mialage is genuine but unfortunatly there is no history to prove it.
Good bits:
* This car costs me £14 a month to insure and with no road tax and the fact that she hardly uses any petrol to run its the cheapest thing i have ever driven, and the most fun!
* The body is amazing for age. The only rust is on the battery shelf in the engine bay, an easy fix.
* all the parts come with it that i have so the only things needed for a complete restoration is a paint job, new carpet and some elbow grease (and not much of that)
* New rear shocks
* Fairly new break pads
* 4 Good tyres, comes with a spare but thats bald, i leave that at home and carry one of those foam tyre fillers.
* Seats and dash look new but are original
* long MOT and Tax (although tax is free)
Only a few things left to do really:
* she could do with a new carpet or current one fitting better, the current one is a large off cut, so new and perfectly usable just not very tightly fitted.
* fresh paint job, The current one is fine really, a little tatty but its a a good seal, very usable. ( I still get stopped in the street with people looking at her)
* The heating system needs re-wiring, I had to take it out to fit a new windscreen wiper mechanism as the old one was bent some how and never got around to putting it back in. Its all there though.
* The petrol guage doesnt work, ive been meaning to sort it out but its never caused me a problem. I keep a full can in the back just incase i run out but its not happened so far, she doesnt use very much petrol and if you stick a tenner in every now and then shes fine. I am pretty sure it just need earthing as it stopped working after the underbody seal paint was applied.
The engine has started to smoke slightly from the breather pipe, Diagnosed as a worn piston ring. I have checked with the technical adviser at the mk1 cortina club and they say its not a problem and wont affect the performance of the car.
Alternativley the engine bay is massive and you could put anything in there.
