2 Mercedes S-Class For Sale (1962) edit C115897 | | | I am selling two Mercedes S-class for a friend. One is right-hand drive and the other is left-hand drive.Below are the descriptions he gave me. Cars are in Malta. Viewing is most welcome and shipping to EU can be arranged.
The right-hand Mercedes is one of the oldest S-class heckflosse- it's a 1962 that has been solely owned by Archbishop of Mdina. It has a lot of history here in Malta
Inside is COMPLETELY FACTORY original, with plastic on the seats. Beige leather interior with Satin black leather dashboard with solid wood trim. All buttons work.
possibly with an expensive air-conditioning as when lit, it gets quite cold in the cabin (and A/C was an extra on these expensive vehicles).
Engine is a very early Mercedes Diesel engine with the their unique heating system currently restored to perfect working order. The same engine's were found in the old Pontoon, which are classified as the e-class (the ones with the round lamps).
Wheels are completely original as well, with the chrome Mercedes hubcaps all round.
There is some rust spots in the obvious places for an Old Mercedes, as one knows that NO Old Mercedes is ever RUST FREE. It has the usual rust on the arch wells and side boards.
I have a quote from a body-restorer to re-condition all the rust, paint the entire car, including door dams etc.. for the amount of €1500 which will bring it looking in SHOWROOM CONDITION.
This concludes to the fact that there is no MAJOR work to do on this vintage vehicle.
The silencer has also been fully reconditioned.
The car is in fully working order and will pass MOT with flying colours. New ORIGINAL headlamps have been installed. They were a rare set costing me Eur370 for the pair!!!
All indicators do work, high and low beams, wipers, inside speedometer, bar movement, ventilated cabin etc..., 4-speed column shift,
With the above, I also have another vehicle of the EXACT model but a GERMAN spec. Left-hand drive, with the same 4-speed column shift. This vehicle however was intentional for parts. However, it is all complete, has a straight-six cylinder engine. The only missing part is the front grill.
This Left-hand drive Mercedes needs total restoration. From top to bottom. However, it's extremely worth it. The body panels are still solid, and most of the chrome is salvageable. The interior is in nice condition, and all wood is still complete. This however has a problem in it starter motor (maybe just needs the brushes cleaned) and will not start. However, the 2.2ltr motor is still healthy.
