Ford Galaxie 500 4 door sedan pillarless For Sale (1966) edit C115527 | | | This is a very straight Galaxie 500 in very good condition. It is pretty much original with the exception of the wheels, tyres and a centre console which houses additional gauges. (all working properly)
The car is a Classic American feature car and has a wealth of documentaion. It had 1 owner Stateside until 97 when it was imported here. I am the 3rd Brit owner.
Best bits?
The body and chassis are both solid, the engine and box are strong, the interior very good, paint and chrome good. The car drives like new with brilliant steering, braking and oomph. It is whisper quiet inside and comfortable. The car is taxed (free) and tested until May 2010. It returns circa 21mpg on good runs. It has 87,000 miles on the clock, which I can pretty much guarantee are genuine, and I have covered 1500 in her since purchased. I have also carried out a fair amount of work and spent quite a bit on her, cleaning up engine bay, replacing pipes and hoses, attending to the odd paint blemish etc.
This would make a great family Yank and seats 6 comfortably.
Faults?
There are a couple of minor marks on the bumpers and the odd blemish on the interior chrome. There is the smallest of oil leaks apparant after long journeys, this coming from the sender pipe to the pressure gauge.
Very slight leak from left hand exhaust manifold, only noticable when cold. The clock is only correct twice a day and the petrol gauge has stopped working. This I believe due to the fact that I brimmed it with fuel and may have displaced the sender. Will try and sort this though. I have tried to get hold of new window seals too as these are starting to perish on drivers side, again hopefully sourced a company and will get this done.
I purchased the car via carandclassic about 4 months ago as I needed an Yank to get me to the Americana, my 63 chevy truck not quite finished in time! I now need to sell this to get funds to finish off the truck.
Her name is Lola, and I would be happy to arrange any test drive or inspection. Will be sad to see the car go!!
