Vauxhall / Bedford MK1 Astra Van 2L 16V For Sale (1984) edit C112801 | | | Up for sale is my 2L 16V MK1 Vauxhall (Bedford) Astra Van. This van has been in my family for 12 years but I need a deposit to buy a house.
Restored by my cousin during 1997-9 and never finished. I purchased it in 2007 and completed the build. Started off as a 1.3 4 speed van in red. Now running a 2L 16v dizzyless 'redtop' engine from a cavalier SRI with only 45k miles. Car has covered no more than 4k since restoration. Standard these engines are 152bhp but this no cat (not needed for MOT either), adjustable fuel pressure regulator and K&N filter. Also has MK1 GTE front suspension and MK2 GTE 16v brakes and GTE disc rear beam conversion.
It has a custom built boot floor which hides a 600w Sony amp and fiberglass sub enclosure for the 12" sub. Sony 6x9's are mounted in custom built speaker pods. The rear is ply lined and covered with carpet. Lightweight Correx board is used in the upper rear sections including rear headlining, also covered in carpet.
It has a GTE dash, doorcards, carpets and MK2 GTE digital dash. The front section of headlining was custon made in July and the interior is finished off with Recaro Connolly leather from a MK2 Astra GTE Champion, very rare seats indeed.
Body work is almost immaculate, the lower section of the doors are begining to show signs of age but the rest of the car is excellent. I took the van to the Vauxhall show at Billing in July and it came joint second in club with the famous 'Snotter' for paintwork. Only lost out to an original mk1. Not bad for over a decade old paint!
It lives in a garage and has only been out in the rain once since 2007. Please come and view, you will not be dissapointed. If there was anyway I could muster a deposit this would not be for sale. It will break my heart when it drives off
