LHD Renault 4 Sinpar 4x4 NorthFrance For Sale (1983) edit C111401 | | | This car is a rare 4 wheel drive "original" R4. Renault used to get the french company SINPAR to transform its cars and light trucks in 4WD. Almost all 4x4 R4s were used by the french Gendarmerie, Fire and forest brigades, army or EDF (electricity) as far too expansive for current end users ! This one is an ex Gendarmerie and used to be blue. It has around 175 000 km on the clock and drives well, it has a "powerfull" 1100 cc engine on. The 4x4 Sinpar system is quite simple and benefits from a non permanent gearbox : 2 levers on floor can engage the transfer box when mud or snow requires it ! strong puller in all terrain conditions. Comes fitted with 4 snow/mud tyres. Car is not in good condition regarding the body as it was used as a "hunting car" to go through forest and fields. The 4 WD system works fine, car has front brake discs, and one good thing from the Sinpar system is that the rear driveshatfs are the same as the front ones. General condition of the car is OK but not "great". Car is a 1983 model year but the french "carte grise" (papers) refers to a 1975 model. If you have a RHD good R4 body + papers, you could end up with one of the first RHD 4WD R4 in the UK ! I am also selling a 1963 R4 (see other add in Classics). I love both of these 2 R4s but am currently focusing on another project car. Which ever goes first, I might keep the other one !
